Weight Loss Articles
Discussion of Healthy Lifestyle Choices
These articles were formerly part of my W8 Monitr web site, but I have discontinued that web site from lack of interest. I am still asked about how I lost weight (I got healthy) and here you will find advice, suggestions, and success stories about weight managment, proper eating habits, and better lifestyle choices.
The highlights of the contents are:
- Brief Overview of Weight Management
- Review of Recent Diets
- Seven (maybe eight?) Principles of Eating Right
- Controlling Your Eating Habits
- Exercise and Weight Loss
I pull all of this together into a system that may work for you, but I heartily recommend you read the background articles first.
There will also be in depth discussions of some of the subjects to present more practiced habits in the methods section, and a collection of success stories.
I have been a lifelong student of nutrition and exercise. Unfortunately, I never really took my own advice to heart. As a consequence, my weight has fluctuated over the past three decades, and I've spent most of that time on the obese side of the scale. Recently, I hit on a combination of habits with eating and exercise that have made weight loss easy, relatively painless, and simple to explain. My friends and family have been intrigued by what I learned, and so I share it with you here.
You will not find these articles to be preachy or condescending. If you are trying to lose weight, you know, as I do, that it is one of the hardest things to do in this modern American world. We are all constantly challenged by portion sizes, cheap, unhealthy food, and Taco Bell's fourth meal.
I would like to point out that it is my sincere hope that everyone finds the healthy and pleasurable balance in life with food and exercise. It will be different for each of us, and that is why so many diets fail us. We each have different needs, abilities, hangups, phobias, and physiological realities. There are thyroid things to deal with, bad knees, and the classic sweet tooth problem that are all very real. If I make any one feel bad about their self-image by anything I write, then I have failed, and I ask you to let me know. It really is no big deal to have a few extra pounds here or there if you are otherwise healthy.
I can't guarantee that you will lose weight, but you can make that guarantee for yourself. In fact, no one can help you lose excess fat if it is not something that you truly desire. Reading these pages will help, but you are the one that must make food and lifestyle choices.
